Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, people are working from home and often miss their desks and colleagues. People who have a desk in the office have a personal space and some of them often like to decorate it with stationery, plants, etc. Recently, a new employee joined a company and asked his boss to allow him to decorate his cubicle. The boss allowed him to decorate his office, however, he was surprised to witness the transformation.
Photos of the cabin were shared by Simple Modern CEO Mike Beckham on Twitter. In the photos, we see that the employee has decorated his cubicle with woodwork and stuffed animals. The employee also kept lanterns in his cubicle. In a follow-up tweet, Mike Beckham further revealed that the employee retained an all-wood cabin that included a stove and hardwood flooring. Mike added: “He told me afterwards that he actually held back a bit. He had purchased an authentic cabin chandelier but realized it was a bit too tight before he hung it.

The boss praises the employee
In another tweet, the company’s CEO praised the employee for his efforts to decorate his cabin. Mike Beckham said the employee won ‘Decorator Employee of the Year’ and added that he was happy to have creative teammates. He tweeted: “Congratulations @lucas_mundt you won Employee Decorator of the Year. We salute you all! Having creative teammates like you is one of the things I appreciate the most about Simple Modern.
Mike Beckham’s tweet went viral on the internet and garnered over 127K likes. Netizens took to the comments section to share their cabin stories. One user commented, “The years I spent in cubicles were the worst years of my life. Any attempt to humanize this shitty human containment facility should be celebrated.” This was my office at the Pentagon before I retired. Later we added a bistro table and chairs adorned with a few bottles of non-alcoholic wine,” another user wrote. Another user wrote, “I swear I’m the only person in the world who prefers to go to the office. Why would I want to make my home a place where I think about work and where I like to talk to my colleagues all day.”
To like! For those screaming at 100% remote work, nothing beats spending time with co-workers at least some of the time. We are humans, not machines, as this cabin demonstrates. And I agree that a cubicle beats open countertop horror.

I swear I’m the only person in the world who prefers to go to the office. Why would I want to make my home a place where I think about work 😭 plus I like to talk to my colleagues all day

Alright, but can we talk about why one of those stuffed deer heads is upside down?

I once pranked someone who turned 40 by turning his cube into a graveyard. Fake grass, tombstones (including one for the prankster), fences, cobwebs, ghosts hanging from above, and I encased it from the ceiling down in black vinyl to make it dark. Good time.
