Small room decorating tips for the office and guest room with MADE

No matter how many hours you spend browsing your favorite home and interiors websites (and trust me, it took me a while), confidently understanding how to pull an entire room together is often the starting point. stumbling block.

Sure, that gorgeous art deco floor lamp deserves a home with you, and yes, that eye-catching neon pillowcase perfectly emits the pure dopamine energy your home deserves. However, I’ve learned that pretty household accessories don’t do the trick. Especially if that room is an awkwardly angled room that doesn’t feel big enough to house an overnight guest but at the same time doesn’t feel small enough to resign it to “storage closet” status.

Imagine my delight, then, when I stumbled across the free MADE consultation service on my umpteenth whimsical stint while shopping in their new arrivals section.

Scroll down the MADE website and you’ll find a link to its digital showroom appointments. Now you can have in-person appointments with his expert showroom teams, but I opted for a virtual consultation to better show the consultant the frustratingly small room that currently served as his office, d storage, laundry room and where my best friend slept on the floor after a long night out.

In truth, it was a surprisingly simple process. I made an appointment (they tend to allocate one hour slots), filled out a questionnaire about my aesthetic preferences and the type of piece I needed help with, and a few days more Later, I was on a video call with Sarah Sole, one of MADE Soho’s interior design experts.

After brief introductions and a mutual obsession with rattan furniture, Sarah took me around the MADE website to show me the products she recommended. All I had to do was say “Yeah, I love that color” or “No, that doesn’t look much like me,” so Sarah had an idea of what I could do with my guest room. .

We’ve talked at length about exploiting the height of the room for storage rather than trying to pack too much stuff in the middle tier. Too much on the floor is not useful in small places. There aren’t too many dark colors either, Sarah explained. But unlike my previous hesitations about bold colors that make a room look smaller, I’ve learned that having a bright highlight that ties together more subtle hues from the same color palette is a smart way to bring a lot of flair. interest in a piece you are. try to keep it bright and airy.

It wasn’t until a few days later that I received the most beautifully curated moodboard, full of suggestions to help me create the multipurpose room of my dreams. One of the best things about moodboards is that all of the images are hyperlinked and allow you to browse other styling options by customers who have purchased the same product.

My flagship product ended up being the Haru click-clack sofa bed, recommended for my mission to build a functional space for working and hosting guests. We opted for a smaller desk and chair so that the office function of the room doesn’t overpower if my partner and I want to use it as a relaxation space at the end of the day.

MADEover Front Stylist 1

Light wood tones and brass accents managed to retain a warm feel in what would otherwise have been a blank one-piece canvas, despite being repainted in the White 05 shade of the new paint collaboration MADE x Lick.

My once awkward space is now my favorite room to use (and show off!) after my mini MADE-over. The round mirror statement, decluttering our shelves, and paying close attention to what really needed and didn’t need to be in this room transformed my mindset when I realized that multifunction doesn’t mean necessarily overcrowded.
