Mom copies Monica from Friends’ Kitchen for a fraction of the price using bargains from charity stores and Amazon

It’s been over 17 years since Friends ended (can you believe it ?!), but it’s still one of our all-time favorite shows.

It is regularly crowned as one of the UK’s most widely broadcast series, so it’s no surprise that the series still influences many aspects of its fans’ lives, from their humor to their fashion choices.

And for a mom who loves DIY, the series has even inspired the interior design of her home.

Desiree Elias, 34, a mom of two from Urbana, Ohio, had always dreamed of a kitchen like Monica’s on the hit TV series.

When she bought her own home, she set to work transforming the simple kitchen into an amazing colorful kitchen, just like Monica and Chandler’s.

Desiree works in child care and stocked up on Amazon accessories and thrift stores for the project.

She also used economical materials such as Valspar paint and self-adhesive wallpaper.

She enlisted the help of friends to help her complete the project and it only cost her £ 731.

Desiree said LatestDeals.co.uk: “Monica’s kitchen from the Friends series has always been my dream kitchen, and my husband agreed when we bought our first home that we could make it a reality.

“Our house predates the 1900s, so our renovation went a little further than expected.

“When we took the top cabinets apart, we found a giant hole in the wall behind them, so we went to the studs and did some drywall as well.

“The lower cabinets also suffered water damage before we bought the house.

“When we started taking them out, they started to crack and come apart, so we had to buy new ones.

“So we thought we might as well replace the flooring while we’re at it.

“We purchased unfinished base cabinets and luxury interlocking vinyl flooring.

“The next step was to isolate in the dark due to a bad storm and be the only house in the block to lose power.

“We then installed a new floor with the flashlight due to the storm, and primed and painted the walls.

“Then we installed new lower cabinets and fabricated a temporary plywood countertop.

“We then painted all of the lower cabinets a running blue and added knobs and drawer pulls.

“We painted the iconic Friends door purple along with two other walls, then painted the pantry door.

“We painted one of the old upper cabinets and a built-in shelf yellow.

“Then we moved the electricity and fixed the plumbing with some difficulty, running the wires through old rock walls into a crawl space that was not very well lit.

“Then we plugged in the dishwasher and the stove.

“After that, we hung the textured brick sticker wallpaper and a yellow wall cabinet.

“We quickly realized that we had not ordered enough and had to wait for two new rolls to arrive.

“It took five in total to complete the look.

Much work has gone into transforming the kitchen and there have been many unexpected surprises

“We then built the open shelves and the bar out of blond plywood.

“Our friend built the top shelf and breakfast bar in their basement for more space and easy access to tools.

“He used a table saw and set up jigs to make them all the same size, then he used wood glue and a Kreg jig to put them together.

“He found the posts and hung them up again using the Kreg Jig to hide the screws and not have a hanger board.

“Then we set up the worktop, sink, breakfast bar and open shelves.

“We had to buy the pendant light, the Friends frame with the sticker, the textured wallpaper, the flooring and the unfinished cabinets.

“A small lampshade was found on Amazon and the large one above the sink was found in a thrift store for 73p.”

Although Desiree and her husband had some unexpected surprises along the way, she was very impressed with the cost of transforming her kitchen.

She explained: “Even with all the exciting surprises and unforeseen parts of the remodel, we hit just under £ 750.

“We did all the work ourselves with two wonderful friends who know how to do it all and guided us, even putting the flooring down with the flashlight at 10pm when the power to our block went out! “

Desiree is thrilled to see how her dream kitchen went and says it helps her channel the Monica Geller inside her.

She added, “I’m always in shock every time I walk into the kitchen because I can’t believe we actually did.

“I don’t like messes up or being disorganized like Monica’s way, but all the chaos was worth it!

“We have two boys who helped out as much as they could when we were cooking.

“It took a lot more steps than originally planned, but we knew we were going to find some surprises in a house built before 1900.

“We all worked as consistently as possible with busy work schedules, school and children’s practices, but we managed to do it in about two weeks.”

During that time, I saved £ 6,000 by turning my bland garden into a fairy-lit paradise using bargains from B&M and Home Bargains.

Plus, people never believe what’s inside our little van, we’ve spent months doing it and there’s even a home theater.

I turned my dingy sofa into a trendy cloud for just £ 36 – it should have cost £ 20,000
