Applications are open for the new season of My Kitchen Rules – as Manu Feildel confirms he will return as a judge with an ‘international’ name in 2022

Applications officially opened for this year’s My Kitchen Rules season.

Aspiring cooks are encouraged to apply for the Channel Seven series in which teams compete against each other in state-to-state competition.

“I am very happy to return to the head of the table and share my passion for food with all of you,” returning judge Manu Feildel said in a statement.

“I can’t wait to be back in Australian homes, meeting other amazing home cooks and sharing their culinary dreams,” he added.

The popular cooking show, which sees everyday Australians showcase their culinary skills, will return to screens at some point this year, but no official date has been set.

News of the show’s return comes after longtime judge Manu revealed in December that he would be back in the hot seat.

However, the 47-year-old French chef admitted he was “sad” to no longer work with his disgraced former co-star Pete Evans.

He said The daily telegraph: ‘I’m a little sad I guess. Pete and I are good friends and nothing has changed there.

“We’ve been working together for a very long time and I love this guy. The fact that he is not sitting next to me is not my choice.

“I don’t know yet who will join me. There have been international names circulating.

In May 2020, it was announced that Pete, 48, had parted ways with Channel Seven after 10 years as a judge on MKR alongside Manu.

The decision to release him from his $ 800,000 contract would have been a cost-cutting measure; however, his unscientific and debunked public statements about vaccines and Covid were also becoming a public relations headache for the network.

MKR had once been an audience heavyweight for Seven, but its popularity has plunged in recent years as viewers flocked to Channel Nine’s Married At First Sight instead.
