Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who want to share a virtual kitchen table with other Daily Kos readers who don’t throw pies at each other. Stop by to talk about music, your time, your garden or what you cooked for supper…. Newcomers may notice that many who post in this series already know each other to some degree, but we welcome guests to our kitchen table and hope to make new friends as well.

There are good and bad biographies that only matter if you spend time writing memoirs, or mostly because they are famous because of them, rather than offering them as a personal story. counterfactual and revisionist. Instead of a suicide note, some of us wept as Anthony Bourdain fans. There are several articles and even a CNN reporting program about him. The first unauthorized biography leaves something open for an “official” counter-narrative, but it’s clear that the story will always have gaps until its ending is described, remembered, or questioned by those who will stay alive. The NY Times exam told me enough. I will not buy the book. I think I have enough conclusion to identify how difficult life can be. Perhaps there should be an association of impersonal historians.

“When the one with the gun is killed, the follower picks up the gun and shoots!”

After Anthony Bourdain took his own life in a French hotel room in 2018, his close friends, family and the people who for decades helped him become an international television star have closed ranks against the media inquiries swarmed and remained largely silent, particularly on his final days.

This silence continued until 2021, when many members of his entourage were interviewed for the documentary “Roadrunner: a film about Anthony Bourdain” and for “Bourdain: the definitive oral biography.” Both works showed a more complex side to Mr. Bourdain, who had become increasingly conflicted over his success and had, in his final two years, made his relationship with the Italian actor Asia Argento its main objective. But neither addressed directly how messy his life had become in the months leading up to the night he hanged himself at age 61.

On October 11, Simon & Schuster will publish what it calls the first unauthorized biography of the travel writer and documentarian. “Down and Out in Paradise: The Life of Anthony Bourdainis filled with fresh and intimate details, including raw and angsty texts from the days before Mr. Bourdain’s death, such as his last exchanges with Ms. Argento and Ottavia Busia-Bourdainhis wife of 11 years who, by the time they split in 2016, had become his confidante.“

I hate my fans too. I hate being famous. I hate my job,” Mr. Bourdain wrote to Ms. Busia-Bourdain in one of their near-daily text exchanges. “I am alone and I live in constant uncertainty.”

With the advent of cheap digital book production in the first decade of the 21st century,[8] the gender exploded. Memoirs written as a means of passing on a personal legacy, rather than as a work of literary art or a historical document, emerge as a personal and family responsibility.[9]

The Association of Personal Historians was a professional association for professionals who helped individuals, families and organizations document their life stories.[10] It was dissolved in 2017.
